Ah… stilettos. As a fashion-conscious woman, I just can’t get enough. I slip my feet into these lovely man-made treasures and my limbs are instantaneously elongated. As my body lengthens and my frumpiness dispels, my feared fate of living my life as a Danny Devito stand-in is nothing more than a fleeting thought of someone I once knew. I am poised, confident—PROPORTIONED. How could I possibly want to wear something else when I look and feel so good? Then, like a lot of things in life, the wonderment fades and reality sets in: Here comes the pain.
As the hours pass, my calves begin to feel like they’re being mercilessly crushed by some unseen force. Then, I begin to limp as the feeling of needles being driven into the balls of my feet become almost too much to bear. Suddenly, long legs and a perkier behind don’t seem to matter so much anymore. All I care about is a fluffy pair of slippers (a ‘la Snooki) and a place to prop my feet. For years, this has always been the ending to my night and I KNOW I am not alone. Even though my endurance has built up considerably over time, I am never completely pain-free. I refuse; absolutely REFUSE to walk the streets barefooted. Until recently, I thought my march of misery would always be a tolerated part of my image regime, much like waxing: Something I don’t look forward to, but continue to endure. Luckily, my painful promenade has come to a halt and couldn’t be more thrilled.
Allow me to introduce Cityslips. “What are Cityslips,” you ask? They are a pair of travel flats that roll up small enough to fit inside your purse. Just when you thought they couldn’t get any better, the case unfolds into a tote bag large enough to carry your heels! They come in black, gold, and silver. Or, if you need a bit more “kick,” get them in snakeskin! I didn’t think it was possible, but Cityslips one-upped themselves and came out with an adorable line called Aftersoles, for the individuals that want to spice things up with some flash. Cityslips and Aftersoles are fab and I am a fan! At under $30.00, there is no need to be a martyr. Go out and buy a pair—your feet deserve it.
I definitely need to pick up a pair of these. They've been on my wish list for awhile, but I just haven't taken the plunge yet!

I love that these are everywhere now. Because as much as we love the way heels look...they're definitely not the most comfortable.
