What I’m Wearing

Out of The Closet…

American Apparel Unisex Circle Scarf

Look # 1

Good day to you, my fierce fashion followers!  Today’s look is attributed to the laziness that is my legacy.  I was in the mood for something comfy casual, but still wanted to maintain my hip image (hahaha).  What better way to show off my fierceness than with American Apparel’s Unisex Circle Scarf!  If you don’t have one already, you need to get one.  It is the best $28 I’ve ever spent.  It can be worn so many ways and can be dressed both up and down.  Today, I am wearing mine around my shoulders, secured with a skinny belt. Then, I finished this look off with my (purposely) messy up-do. As time goes on, I will be posting more pictures showing how many ways I wear this scarf, and eventually—How To videos!  Stay tuned!  I have to ask, do any of you own this scarf, and if so, what is your favorite way to wear it?

Okay, now bear with me.  I know that this shirt isn’t exactly “groundbreaking,” but a top like this can always come in handy when wearing a hot little vest or  can also be dressed up with a scarf.  It is a clothing staple, and at only $2.99, how can you resist?Matalan is definitely a “Go To” store for the hipster on a budget, and this trendy piece the perfect vindication!  Way to go, Matalan, you’ve done it again!

Kristen Stewart

Twilight Goes Vogue

Good news, my fierce fashion Twi-hards!  Kristen Stewart is gracing February’s cover of Vogue.  Here are a few sneak peek images from February’s spread:

While I do like the color of her hair, I thought she looked older than what she really is.  I read somewhere that she is quite introverted and shy, and it is quite evident in these photographs.  I guess the old saying is right, “The camera doesn’t lie!”  She looks lost and has a bit of the “deer in the headlights” syndrome.  I’m sure that look will fade once she fully grows into her fame and learns to feel at ease with it.  Give her a few more years and she’ll be taking photos as well as any seasoned Hollywood veteran!  I absolutely LOVE the cover shot, and it was a nice change to see her shedding her teenage image for a sophisticated, trendy look.  So, give me your expert opinion, my fierce fashion followers: What do you think?

What I’m Wearing

Out of The Closet…

Hello my fierce fashion followers!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I NEVER thought there would be a day when I would be wearing Hammer pants again, but lo and behold---Here I am!  They have come back in a new, re-vamped way and I am LOVING it!  For a draped upper-half, I paired a shirt dress that I bought from H & M with a waist belt.  Then, I pulled it out just a little to make it hang nicely off my shoulders.  I went with my usual style of keeping accessories to a minimum.  I tried putting on some necklaces and also tried a scarf, but the outfit looked best accessory-free.  I chose a simple pair of black pointed heels and swooped my hair in an easy, elegant ballerina bun.  I completed my look in following the traditional French style of makeup application by accenting my natural features for a light, polished look.  Until next time…

Welcome to my first official $7.00 Saturday, my fierce fashion followers!  Lets face it, the economy is not the strongest right now, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t look cutting edge. The constant forgoing of Gucci Splendors or Alexander McQueen leather pants (as in my case) in order to make ends meet can get depressing after awhile.  Cry not, my trendy tyrants.  We can still look good without maxing our credit cards.  In the spirit of fashion sacrificing (and it is a sacrifice), here are a few fabulous finds to tide you over.  Enjoy your weekend and,               Stay Fashionably Fabulous!

Mishaps

Crimes of Fashion

daisy-lowe-peaches-geldof-w-magazine-mugshot-l-1 copy
It happens everyday all over the world.  You or someone you know may have been a guilty culprit.  For the unfortunate few, it comes back to haunt them in their dreams.  Yes, my fierce fashion followers; If you can relate, then you may have fallen victim to CRIMES OF FASHION!  I’ve taken a few of the mishaps that I’ve had the unfortunate experience of bearing witness to, and laid them out on a nice, tidy post.  Hopefully, with my courage to step forward, I can help prevent further occurrences.
5. Pigtails on Women
pigtails_final
Loose pigtails are perfectly acceptable on adult females. But the style of pigtails pictured above?  It's best left to the little ones.

                                                                    4.  Full Moon
butt-garner
Low-Rise jeans have been the rage for a number of years now, and more than enough time has passed for women to become aware of how far their jeans dip when they squat!  Word of advice: If you need to dip down, don’t squat.  Get down on one knee.
                                                          3.  Excessively Small Clothing
2388
There are myriad styles to suit every body type and budget, so there really is no reason why someone should have to wear something that is too small.  Word of advice: If it feels like it is riding up—It probably is.
                                                           2  Wearing Pajamas in Public
pajama1-199x300
This, I am sad to report—is an American trend.  If you spend enough time in rural America, I guarantee, sooner or later you will spot someone shopping in their pajama bottoms.  YES, I have been guilty of doing this; However, that was years ago and I have since put those days behind me.  Here is what I learned: If you have enough time to get in the car to go somewhere, you have enough time to put on a proper pair of trousers!
                                                       1. Wearing Tennis Shoes and Jeans
jennifer-garner-218x300

Once again, this is an American thing, and can always spot one of my own in a foreign city.  Why?  Because they're the only ones wearing tennis shoes with their jeans!  Here is something the rest of the world understands: Tennis shoes are to be worn only for exercise or if you work at a place where your job requires them!

***Note: It is not my intention to offend or hurt anyone's feelings with this post.
I am merely writing about things I have seen that have gotten on my nerves, hopefully,
in a way that is entertaining to my readers.--That's all.

The Best and Worst of The 2011 Golden Globes

WhoWhatWear

Good day to all my fierce fashion followers!  As we all know, the red carpet can be a harsh, unforgiving place adorned with the best designers have to offer.  It can either make you or break you.  That being said, here is what I thought were the three best and worst of this year’s Golden Globes.

3.68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Arrivals XZYAyV3kYpJl        2.68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Arrivals 88uOA9ZIJ2Ul
Claire Danes was the definition of elegance in a Calvin Klein halter gown.  Accessorized with nothing more than a gold cuff and a pair of earrings, it completed her look of simple, savvy sophistication. I raise my glass to you, Claire.  You’ve come a long way since your “My So-Called Life” days.
Sandra Bullock celebrated her ongoing post divorce comeback in a sheer, delicately sequined Jenny Packham gown.  It drapes beautifully and came very close to making my number one look.  Her blunt bangs and smokey eyes compliment her outfit beautifully.  Bravo, Sandy!  Show that Jesse James what he’s missing!

And the winner is…

anne-hathaway-golden-globes-2011-03

Anne Hathaway displayed her flawless taste in an Armani Prive gown that is nothing short of AMAZING.  The severity of the neckline is in perfect contrast with a plunging back. This gown is beautiful—flawless, and is the cherry on top of her transformation from Disney Debutante to  Saucy Screen Siren.

The Worst…

3.Mila-Kunis-Dress-Golden-Globes-2011     2.68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Arrivals V7IJWwazPHcl
Mila Kunis is a walking catastrophe in a dress so limp and dowdy, there is nothing  left but to conclude that she had no other choice but to use her Grandmother’s living room curtains.  Her gown looks heavy and gathers in all the wrong places, and the color is as bleak as her expression.  C’mon Mila, you’re better than this. There is nothing “precious” about Gabourey Sidibe in this purple monstrosity.  It looks like it was fished out of a Charlotte Russe discount rack.  After this disaster, I think she needs to seriously consider firing her stylist.

The Best of The Worst…

68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Arrivals h9RLuox3g8Pl

Christina Aguilera plunges further down the A-List in what I am assuming is her attempt to be sexy.  Her dress is so unflattering that it seems as if it was specifically designed to widen her hips.  She has a great figure, but you wouldn’t know it underneath this mermaid ensemble.  The only light in this situation is that she could have possibly got her dates mixed up and thought she was on her way to a Moulin Rouge reunion.

Patachou - Outono Inverno/Fall Winter 2011 Full Show - Fashion Rio

Follow my blog with bloglovin

The debut of Patachou's Fall/Winter collection was nothing short of genius. Using a neutral, urban color palette, she created a delightful display of textured creations. Her pieces were layered in such a way that it made me want to reach right into the screen and run my fingers across them. The second triumph in her collection was the draping. As we all know, if not applied carefully and creatively, draping can become our worst enemy in distorting our silhouette into nightmarish proportions. Patachou not only succeeded in accentuating in all the right places, she also made the fabric look like shimmering swirls of textile cream!

Her collection left an array of endless possibilities. Her looks were intricately detailed and carried a sophisticated simplicity, but would look just as chic with added accessories, if one had the desire to do so. Patachou's designs encompassed all the desires of a fashionable, confidant woman while being comfortable at the same time! Every piece looked wearable and at home on the body. I don't know about the rest of you, but her show left me eager to see what she will come up with next.

Here is a video of her collection. Enjoy, and

Out of The Closet

What I’m Wearing…

Hello my fierce fashion followers! First off, I have to                 apologize for my crude picture taking. At the time I was wearing    this, I had no one to take the pictures for me and had to rely on just my mirror.

Accessories make all the difference!  I don’t think I would’ve loved this outfit nearly as much without the pashmina, belt, and ankle boots.  I hope you liked this look and as always,

Hello, my fierce fashion followers!  In this weekend’s look, I was going for trendy casual.  I offset my simple American Eagle Cami with a faux leather military style blazer embossed with brushed silver buttons.  Then, I topped it off with a faux leather hip belt that I found in the most adorable boutique in Rome, and of course slipped into some stilettos!  Contrary to what others may think, stilettos are suitable for any occasion—Especially the supermarket.  With the cart acting as leverage, it is the perfect location for breaking in a new pair.  I hope you like this, and as always…

Fabulous Find

Why is it that the day I hit the stores on a mission to fill my trunk to capacity, there is nothing worth buying?  It’s almost as if the universe was screaming, “NO! The last things you need are clothes or another pair of shoes!”  Or maybe the universe was trying to persuade me to give the money I would’ve spent to starving children.  Doesn’t it understand that I’M STARVING and in need of the kind of nourishment that only textile and accessories can provide?
Once again, I found myself at the stores, only today’s mission wasn’t about me.  I needed a birthday gift for a friend.  “Okay, it’ll be a quick in and out,” I lectured myself as I weaved my way through the parking lot.   “Don’t even look at anything else.  You already know what you’re getting, so just go straight there and leave.”  By the time I hit the shopping area, I was ready.  I could’ve been my imagination, but even my walk seemed stronger.  I was determined—FOCUSED.  Nothing was going to get in my way.
I caved.  But not after putting up a good fight.  I saw all kinds of silky dresses calling my name.  The sleeves would sway every time a gust of wind came in from the door, and I swear—It was like they were beckoning me.  Still, I held my ground.  When I finally made it to the store I needed, I decided to peruse the shoe department.  That sealed my doom.  I bought an edgy pair of mid-length boots.  I’ve been on the hunt for a long time and I finally found my match!  And, there was one pair left in my size!  I had to get them.  It was totally meant to be.  All in all, I didn’t do too badly.  I left with one pair of boots, a shirt, hat, vest, and belt. So I wasn’t victorious, but oh well; you can’t win em all.

My SOLE Mate

Ah… stilettos.  As a fashion-conscious woman, I just can’t get enough.  I slip my feet into these lovely man-made treasures and my limbs are instantaneously elongated.  As my body lengthens and my frumpiness dispels, my feared fate of living my life as a Danny Devito stand-in is nothing more than a fleeting thought of someone I once knew.  I am poised, confident—PROPORTIONED.  How could I possibly want to wear something else when I look and feel so good?  Then, like a lot of things in life, the wonderment fades and reality sets in: Here comes the pain.
As the hours pass, my calves begin to feel like they’re being mercilessly crushed by some unseen force.   Then,  I begin to limp as the feeling of needles being driven into the balls of my feet become almost too much to bear.  Suddenly, long legs and a perkier behind don’t seem to matter so much anymore.  All I care about is a fluffy pair of slippers (a ‘la Snooki) and a place to prop my feet.  For years, this has always been the ending to my night and I KNOW I am not alone.  Even though my endurance has built up considerably over time, I am never completely pain-free.  I refuse; absolutely REFUSE to walk the streets barefooted.  Until recently, I thought my march of misery would always be a tolerated part of my image regime, much like waxing: Something I don’t look forward to, but continue to endure.  Luckily, my painful promenade has come to a halt and couldn’t be more thrilled.

Allow me to introduce Cityslips.  “What are Cityslips,” you ask?  They are a pair of travel flats that roll up small enough to fit inside your purse.   Just when you thought they couldn’t get any better, the case unfolds into a tote bag large enough to carry your heels!  They come in black, gold, and silver.  Or,  if you need a bit more “kick,” get them in snakeskin!  I didn’t think it was possible, but Cityslips one-upped themselves and came out with an adorable line called Aftersoles, for the individuals that want to spice things up with some flash.  Cityslips and Aftersoles are fab and I am a fan!  At under $30.00, there is no need to be a martyr.  Go out and buy a pair—your feet deserve it.
